| Barbara Holland, Director | ||
Barbara Holland, Ph.D., is Director of
the National Service-Learning Clearinghouse, a project funded by
the Learn and Serve America of the Corporation for National and
Community Service. The Director provides leadership to ensure that
the Clearinghouse is the most comprehensive resource available on
service-learning and civic engagement. She joined the Clearinghouse
in April 2002 after an appointment as the visiting director of the
Office of University Partnerships at the Department of Housing and
Urban Development in Washington, D.C. She also continues to serve
as a senior scholar with Indiana University-Purdue University
Indianapolis in their Center for Service and Learning, as Adjunct
Professor of the University of Western Sydney, and as executive
editor of Metropolitan Universities journal. Previously, she held
senior administrative positions at Portland State University and
Northern Kentucky University. Her publications and presentations
reflect her expertise in service-learning research, assessment,
community-partnership building, and institutional change. She holds
a bachelor's and a masters degree in journalism from the University
of Missouri-Columbia and a doctorate in higher education policy
from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Liberty
Smith, Ph.D., has served as program manager of Learn and Serve
America's National Service-Learning Clearinghouse since September 2006.
She is responsible for daily operations including staff supervision and
development, fiscal management, marketing, and collaboration with the
Director on the creative development of the website and Clearinghouse
services. Liberty received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of
California, San Diego in Literature - Cultural Studies (2003). She
continues to conduct research and publish on the relationship between
personal relationships, artistic and intellectual collaborations, and
political impact in U.S. and Latin American women's and glbt culture.
She has taught on these subjects and in composition at UCSD, Southern
Connecticut State University, and Quinnipiac University. More recently,
she completed a master's degree in library and information science at
the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (2006) and has provided a range
of library services at the San Diego County Public Law Library and
UCSD. Liberty holds a bachelor's degree in English and Latin American
area studies from Kenyon College (1994).

Heather Martin, MISt, has served as the Librarian of Learn and Serve America's National Service-Learning Clearinghouse since May of 2007. Heather provides reference and referral services and literature searches; identifies, abstracts, and catalogs materials; develops and maintains record-keeping systems and reports; and ensures an up-to-date and comprehensive resource collection. Prior to joining the staff, Heather worked in several special library settings, including Princess Margaret Hospital’s Patient Education Library in Toronto, the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange, and the Broadcast Library at National Public Radio in Washington, D.C. Heather received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz in pre-modern European history and a masters of information studies degree from the University of Toronto. |

Larry Hardison is responsible for Web content creation and
management, including writing, editing, proofreading, and user support;
refreshing website content on a regular schedule; publishing content
using a content management system; coordinating the overall function,
design, and development of the website; maintaining and improving the
links database; assisting in the implementation of new website
functionalities in consultation with staff and contractors; and,
listserv management . Larry has experience working with databases,
editing web content and providing technical assistance. Prior to
joining ETR Associates, he worked as a counselor for adolescents with
autism, helping to manage a group home. He holds a bachelor's degree in
psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and joined
ETR Associates in February 1998. | ||

Jason Burrage is responsible for library circulation, buying and processing new library materials, compiling data, and assisting users with NSLC services. He has been with ETR since July 2006. He previously managed the course materials department for the University of California at Santa Cruz and was also a graphic designer for the Northwest Arkansas Times. His own area of research is in the comparative study of cross-cultural meaning generating processes. |

Janine
Bird is responsible for library circulation, buying and
processing new library materials, compiling data, and assisting users
with NSLC services. She joined ETR Associates in December 2001. She has
experience as a university library assistant, and as a test evaluator
with CTB/McGraw-Hill in Monterey, California. Prior to joining ETR
Associates, she was a journey-level carpenter for nine years. While in
college, she served an internship in Kitui, Kenya, where she
interviewed participants in rural development projects and wrote
reports for funding agencies. She holds a bachelor's of science degree
in psychology from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.

Amber Isidro has served as administrative assistant of Learn and Serve America's National Service-Learning Clearinghouse since April 2007. She performs a variety of duties in support of our training and technical assistance mission including providing conference support and travel planning; responding to marketing requests and publication orders; and processing serials subscriptions, order shipments, expense reports, and other financial documents. Prior to joining ETR Associates Amber was a Peer Counselor/Legal Advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She has worked for the City of Watsonville providing local youth with programs to help them have a gang- and drug-free environment. Amber is also an advocate for a local Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault agency. She has experience helping people in crisis, collaborating with various agencies to provide resources to community members, and providing general office assistance in a range of settings. Amber has her credential in family development and an associate’s degree in human services.

Megan Standridge has served as a library intern at ETR since July 2008, and is responsible for assisting the library staff in all areas of the library operation including cataloging, reference, and collection development. Her previous experience has been in the fields of usability design and research and supplementary K-12 education. She is currently pursuing her MLIS in Library and Information Science at San Jose State University, and holds a BA in English with a minor in Spanish from the University of California at Los Angeles. Upon earning her MLIS, Megan hopes to work in a special-collection library, archive, or in policy development. |

Martina Bailey is a Federal Work Study Student and has been working with ETR Associates since 2008. Martina assists in web site updating, library organization and general office maintenance, among other tasks. She was born and raised in the Northern California town of Martinez and after attending Diablo Valley College, transferred to the University of California at Santa Cruz in Fall 2007. She majors in Psychology and is considering pursuing a career in nursing following graduation. |

Sarah Ragland has been with ETR Associates since April 2008 as a Federal Work Study Community Service student worker. She assists the entire NSLC team with archiving outdated service learning materials, shelving and organizing the library, updating the SLICE syllabi/lesson plan database, as well as general office duties. Originally hailing from San Diego, she moved to northern California to attend school at the University of California at Santa Cruz where she is currently majoring in Environmental Studies. After graduating, Sarah plans to either enter the Peace Corps or go to law school to become an Environmental Lawyer. |
